How Does The Colzer 51-Bottle Wine Cooler Look?
UV-Protecting Glass Door With Lock (Non-Reversible Hinging)
The black stainless steel cabinet has a well-constructed dual glass door with stainless steel edge. The glass has a slight tint to filter UV rays, known enemy of wine.
The exhaust grille is also stainless steel. Overall, the whole unit boasts a pleasant, contemporary look that blends well in any home setting.
Between the two glass panes there is argon gas to add a further insulation layer thus ensuring minimal fluctuation in the cabinet temperature.
The door opens to the left and the direction cannot be reversed on current models. According to the manufacturer, a next updated model will have this feature.
On the plus side though, you can lock the door. The safety lock is on the bottom, in the middle of the exhaust plate. You should find two keys in the packaging.
Attaching The Door Handle
The stainless steel handle is also included in the packaging. This is the only part you have to install yourself (or you can opt to use it without a handle).
The two screws are pre-installed. Gently pull back the door seal where you will find the two screws. You only have to adjust the handle to them and tighten the screws with a screwdriver.
Blue LED Lighting
A couple of LED button lights provide illumination inside.
You can turn it on by pressing the light bulb key on the digital control panel on the top. It will turn off automatically in about 10 seconds after closing the door.
To keep it continuously on press the bulb icon once , this switches on the light, then hold it pressed until it beeps. The lighting will stay on until you switch it off (by pressing the bulb icon).
6 Beech Wood Shelves Complete The Classy Look
6 unvarnished beech wood shelves (you have to slide them in place after unpacking the appliance) hold the bottles. See more details on the shelving below.
Nearly Silent Compressor Cooling
Clozer wine fridges utilize advanced compressor cooling technology with minimal noise and vibration. What’s more, the temperature is quite consistent inside the cabinet with very low fluctuation form the set value.
it’s all good news to wine aficionados, since low vibration and steady temperatures are essential to preserve wine’s quality.
You can program the temperature anywhere from 41 – 72 ºF which a nice wide range. This allows you to either chill whites, sparkling wine, Champagne in the low 40-ies or keep reds cool in the upper 60-ies.
How To Set The Temperature?
The Colzer 51-bottle wine fridge has digital touch key controls mounted on the top of the cabinet interior. You can monitor the temperature on the white LED display.
You can easily unlock the controls: just press and hold the “lock” button until you hear a beep (takes cc. 7-10 secs) and the controls will be responsive again.
Tap the Up and Down symbols to raise or lower the temperature.
60 – 80 % Humidity
The fridge also maintains a relative humidity level of 60 – 80 % which ideal for storing wine. Adequate humidity protects corks from drying out and letting air in the bottle.
Note: The control panel locks automatically after a couple of seconds it was last touched. Some may not like this feature but families with small kids will surely appreciate that their little ones won’t be able to mess with the settings.
More On The Shelves
The Colzer 51-bottle wine cooler comes with 6 strongly-built beech wood shelves.
The top 5 shelves slide out easily on a roller rail assembly and you can remove them completely.
When placing or getting out a bottle, you can pull a shelf out to slightly more than 1/2 way.
The 6th, bottom shelf is stationary. It’s not removable.
Note: The shelves are designed to hold 750 ml, Bordeaux-style bottles: diameter is from 2.875″ to 3.375″ (2 7/8″ – 3 3/8″).
Placing larger, wider bottles will decrease the overall capacity or you will even need to take out a shelf to make space for big bottles.
Are They Sturdy Enough?
A good number of owners mentioned how sturdy and well-built they find the shelves.
They don’t wobble when you roll out one or bend under the weight.
How To Arrange The Bottles?
The best way to maximize space organize the bottles crosswise: alternating with the neck facing backwards and outwards.
As seen on the photo here: this one shows a shelf of Colzer’s 30-bottle model, that’s why it’s narrower.
The bottom, stationary rack can hold bigger bottles but less of them.
How To Remove a Shelf?
First and foremost, empty the shelf before removing it. Then pull it out until the stopping mechanism lets you do it (cc. half way): there is a stopper built-in to prevent sudden and unintentional pull out.
Gently lift the shelf up and push up the plastic latch on the left side and down on the right side.
This will release the shelf and you can remove it.
Odorless Air With Carbon Filter
An activated carbon filter ensures that the air inside the cooler is free off unpleasant smells. It’s just another great feature to ensure the best possible storage environment for your wines.
Is This Wine Cooler Noisy?
The Colzer 51-bottle wine fridge’s noise level is rated less than 39 dBA according to the manufacturer. It means that it is fairly silent.
