How Does It Look?
The NewAir 76-bottle wine cellar is a squat-looking, attractive appliance.
The black cabinet comes with see-through glass window door. The stainless steel frame and recessed handle add a nice, sharp look, making it a perfect fit for a modern kitchen, living room, or entertainment room.
Note: It’s for freestanding use only because the ventilation is at the sides and back, but it will compresorblend in seamlessly.
The double layer glass is tainted to block UV light but it allows complete view of the bottles stored inside. The blue LED lights let you highlight the interior even more.
Right-Hinged Door
The door opens to the left only, the is no option to change the hinging. Keep this in mind when picking a placement spot for it in your home.
There is no safety lock on the door so you won’t be able to secure your collection. This is may be a concern if you have small kids or teenagers.
Quiet Inverter Compressor Backed By Two Fans
The latest wine fridge models use inverter compressor technology to increase the efficiency of cooling, reduce noise, vibration and electricity consumption. The noise level of this model is max. 42 dBA.
Using the adjustable speed the compressor runs only when its necessary matching the rate of cooling to the changes in ambient temperature and other factors. The results are
- a smoother, quieter operation and
- more even temperatures with minimal fluctuation.
The compressor is aided by two fans mounted inside the cabinet. They help disperse the cool air uniformly across the fridge cabinet in both zones.
Touch-Sensitive Controls To Adjust The Temperature
The control board is in side the unit just under the top door frame. You will find it easy to use once you learn which button does what.
To power on the fridge press the “light bulb” and the “thermometer” icons at the same time. Use also this button-combo to turn off the unit.
- The light bulb is obviously for switching On/Off the blue LED lighting.
- Next to the bulb symbol is the zone selector: thermometer with ZONE and bracketed in Up/Down arrows. Tap this to choose which zone’s temperature you want to program.
- The display window on the left shows temperature in the Upper Zone, the right one is for the Lower Zone.
- The two zones have the same temperature range: 40 – 65 ºF. Adjust the temperature by pressing the Up/down arrows.
Upper Zone For Red Wine, Lower For Whites
This means that if you have mixed collection of wines and want to keep them at the ideal drinking temperature then place the reds in the upper, colder part. Whites, sparkling wine should go in the lower, warmer zone.
Note: For optimal cooling the manufacturer recommends to set the lower zone’s temp higher than (or same as) for the upper zone. The difference should be at least 4 ºF.
8 Removable Black Metal Shelves + 1 Fixed Shelf
As you can see on the photo NewAir’s 76-bottle model has 8 black vynil-coated metal racks
- 3 in the top zone which is for white wines,
- 5 in the upper zone – this is the warmer part so you will store your reds here.
They slide smoothly when you place the bottles in or take them out. You can fully remove all of these shelves.
The bottom rack is fixed and is suitable for storing large, wide bottles.
What’s The Noise Level of the NewAir 76-Bottle Wine? Cellar?
It’s rated to 42 dBA – that’s quieter than most dishwashers (45-50 dBA) or kitchen fridges.
